New wine labels – looking back and forward
The stories and values of our family have been incorporated into the winemaking process for generations and determine all major and minor decisions. They make our winery what it is.
Like us, they are subject to change – and you should be able to feel and taste this.
For this reason, we decided to revise our graphic design this year. As with the vineyard, we took a very cautious approach. We were assisted by Kamptal illustrator Birgit Kiennast, with whom we have been working for many years.
The history of the winery – family tradition over generations
We started the process in our wine archive, where we brought out what has characterized our path since the beginning. Our great-grandfather Leopold Zull laid the foundations for today’s winery when he married Rosa and moved into the house at Schrattenthal 9. The very Rosa whose picture adorns the label of the Ancestrale Rosé. Back then, winegrowing was part of the mixed farming business. The wines were mostly sold by the barrel.
This gradually changed with his grandfather Leopold – and finally, in the 1980s, Werner Zull converted the business completely to viticulture. Together with his wife Andrea, he began to specialize the winery in quality viticulture. They expanded the vineyards and gave the wine the face that is known today in Austria and beyond. Today we, Phillip and Andrea, continue to run the family winery and have been developing it for a good 20 years.
Why a new label?
The winery is now one of the best in the country, is Nachhaltig Austria certified and has recently become a member of the select circle of traditional Austrian wineries. The style of the wines has become more and more refined – always with the aim of making the soil and the origin of our wines even more tangible.
And this should now also be visible in the graphic design.
Wine & design – elegance with depth
Some important elements of the existing design have been adopted and carefully presented in a modern, simple light. The biggest change is perhaps the warm color, reminiscent of clay. It radiates calm and is also a tactile experience. Just like the terroir in the vineyard.
With the new labels, we are opening a new chapter towards the future. We hope that you will feel invited to taste our wines and immerse yourself in the history of our winery.
